The Voice That Tells You to Stay Away

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · Pastor Reyes Castillo

If you woke up feeling like you're too much of a mess for God this morning, that voice didn't come from your Father.

When God corrects you, He calls you closer. Shame tells you to stay away until you're cleaner.

“He is able to succor them that are tempted.”

Hebrews 2:18

Succor means to come running to help, the way a mother runs when she hears her little one cry outside.

Conviction leads to repentance. Shame leads to separation. Let Him come close today.

Shame has a sound. It says wait until you've fixed it, until you can come with your head up.

His voice sounds like a way forward, and He walks it with you.

Think about that mother again. She hears the cry and she's out the door before she knows what happened. That's how He comes for you.

So if you stumbled yesterday, or already this morning, bring it to Him now. He's on His way.

The story behind it

Jesus told a story about a younger son who took his inheritance early, left home and spent all of it. When a famine came, he ended up feeding pigs and wishing he could eat what they ate.

He decided to go home. On the way he worked out a speech: he would ask his father to take him back as a hired servant.

He never got to finish it. “When he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” Then the father called for the best robe, a ring for his hand, shoes for his feet, and a feast.

The son came home ready to beg for a job. His father ran to him first. That's the Father Jesus wanted us to see.

Pray

Lord, I hear the voice that tells me to stay away, and I'm choosing Yours instead. Here's where I fell. Thank You for running toward me. Help me today. Amen.

Say it today
