He Already Said Your Name

Monday, October 5, 2026 · Pastor Reyes Castillo

“He is not ashamed to call them brethren.”

Hebrews 2:11

Read that slowly. The people in that chapter had drifted. They didn't look like much yet. And Jesus called them family, out loud, in front of everyone.

Some of us have spent years trying to become someone God would be proud to claim. Praying harder. Serving more. Hiding the parts we're embarrassed by.

You can stop bracing. He already said your name, and there was no pause before He said it.

There's a kind of tired that comes from trying to be good enough. You serve, you pray, you keep the hard parts out of sight, and some part of you still wonders if He's pleased.

Picture someone you love walking across a crowded room to stand beside you, then telling everyone there, “This one's mine.” No hesitation. No list of conditions.

He's already done that for you. Let the striving rest today, and enjoy being His.

The story behind it

Hagar was a servant in Abraham's house, an Egyptian woman with little say over her own life. When she was treated harshly, she ran into the wilderness, alone and carrying a child.

By a spring of water on the road to Shur, the angel of the Lord found her. The first thing He did was call her by name: “Hagar.”

In a house where she had been handled like property, God spoke to her as someone who mattered. She gave Him a name of her own that day: “Thou God seest me.”

He knew where to find her, and He knew her name. He knows yours.

Pray

Lord, thank You for calling me family before I had anything to show You. Help me stop bracing and simply rest in being Yours today. Amen.

Say it today

I am His. He is not ashamed of me.
